sarah gallina is a new york—based director, artist, and art director working across film, animation, sculpture, photography, and fabricated environments. her work is rooted in world building, often taking ordinary materials and making them obey the rules of an invented world.
she uses handmade or altered objects, shifts in scale, restricted color palettes, collage, and practical effects to construct these worlds for the camera.
Sarah Gallina holds a B.A. in English and Political science from colgate university, with additional study in sculpture, drawing, watercolor and design at the art students league of new york and pratt institute. she studied directing with atlantic theatre company founding member karen kohlhaas. for eight years, she lived in nashville, tn working independently with music artists on music videos, album artworks, and related visuals, often creating a cohesive visual universe around an album release.
